Do you enjoy shopping for your next electricity provider? Or, have you had the same provider for many years? The retail electricity market in Texas can be a difficult place for a consumer to navigate. Contracts are confusing, terms are difficult to evaluate, and going through the process takes a lot of time. Not making the best decision can cost you both time and money. Using Texas Power Agents can save you this hassle and save you time and money!
Each electricity will run a soft credit check, or utility credit check, with each enrollment. Credit requirements vary from provider to provider. Credit freezes will prevent these credit checks from being completed. Prior to each enrollment, the freeze will need to be lifted, or if you prefer to leave the freeze in place, the deposit required will need to be paid. Texas does provide for an exemption to deposit requirements if you are over the age of 65. If you are over 65 and have a freeze in place, you may provide a copy of your driver's license to us to keep on file and provide as evidence of the exemption at each enrollment.
If a deposit if required at enrollment, not due to a credit freeze, we will try the enrollment with another provider. Each provider has their own credit score threshold. If after several attempts we are not able to successfully place the enrollment without a deposit requirement, we will discuss this with you to determine the next best step. We will not authorize the payment of a deposit without your permission.
We collect the same information you would use to enroll yourself in an electricity plan. We also ask for a copy of a recent bill if you are switching providers. Once we have received the information required, we will schedule your enrollment according to the date indicated. You will receive correspondence directly from the provider, and we will follow with an email summarizing your next plan.
Residential Service Fee:
$110 annually or $10 monthly. You will be able to choose which option you prefer at registration.
Commercial Service Fee:
We do not directly charge commercial customers for brokering services. Texas Power Agents operates as an independent advisor serving the energy needs of its customers. We maintain broker relationships with numerous suppliers and work with them to source the lowest price contracts for customers. We are compensated by the suppliers in the form of a broker fee that is embedded in the energy rate.
In Texas, you have three business days from enrollment to cancel the contract. If you do not like the electricity contract that we have chosen for you, please reach out to us immediately to discuss this with us. If after having a conversation with us you would still like a different contract, we will work with you to enroll you in a new plan. If you reach out to the provider and cancel the contract without notifying us, our records will be incorrect.
As part of our service, we will help you navigate moving, by getting electricity started at your new address, and disconnecting it at the service address you are leaving. Our Change of Service Form will collect the information needed to begin this process. Some providers will not allow us to act on your behalf, or will require that they hear from you directly. If we encounter this, it will be necessary for you to work with us on the move-out or request it yourself. We will share this with you and provide information needed to complete the move-out if so. In order to complete a move-out without early termination penalty, additional documentation will be required. You may email a copy of a lease or sales agreement demonstrating that you are leaving the current service address or moving to a new address to accounts@texaspoweragents.com. Each provider will have their own requirement for the standard of documentation required.
If you are moving to an area with electricity choice inside of Texas, please fill out the Change of Service form to continue service with us.
Please contact the office to terminate service and to get more instructions for your move at 281-742-0241.
If you have a question about our service, please reach out to us and speak with us. We are always willing to answer questions and work through any issues. If you would like to terminate your service with us, please let us know in writing by sending an email to accounts@texaspoweragents.com. We will stop monthly subscription payments or if you have an annual subscription, we will prorate a refund per months remaining for year paid.
If you are moving to a new address and need electricity service started in your name, you will complete our Residential Registration Form and provide your personal information, service address, and first date of service needed. Once received, we will schedule your electricity enrollment.
You can update the credit card we have on file using the Credit Card Authorization Form.
If you currently have electricity service in your name, and your current contract is ending or you are out of contract, we will schedule your provider switch on the appropriate date. Our Residential Registration Form will collect part of the information needed to make enrollments on your behalf. The other information needed will come from a copy of one of your latest bills, that you may email to accounts@texaspoweragents.com.
If you are currently in an electricity contract, we are able to conduct a complimentary contract analysis to determine if breaking the contract would be financially beneficial.
You may email a copy of your latest bill to accounts@texaspoweragents.com with a request to conduct a contract analysis along with the amount of your early termination fee. By doing so, you are giving us permission to pull your last 12 months of historical usage so that we may conduce our detailed analysis. Once complete, we will share the math with you along with our recommendation. If breaking your contract is not appropriate, we will work with you to determine the next best step.
Electricity providers will communicate with the customer directly, not with Texas Power Agents. You will receive all communication from each provider following enrollment. Texas Power Agents has no control over what a provider send to each customer regarding enrollment status, billing, or contract renewal. If you receive a communication from a provider that you do not understand, please let us know. We will be happy to review it for you.
Texas Power Agents will communicate electricity enrollment and provider online account information. We will notify you by email with your provider summary. If you have given us permission to text, you will receive communication via text messages as well. Sometimes we will call you to obtain additional information or work through issues. You should always check your CLIENT PORTAL for up to date information.
